The governor of Indiana, Mitch Daniels, in his rebuttal to Obama’s State of the Union, illustrates just about every point I’ve made about Republicans as hypocrites. Here’s a perfect example:
Daniels claims that our debt is a massive problem. He then goes on to say that we should lower taxes (which would make our debt far worse), and that this will create an economy of growth that will allow us to pay off our debt. Mitch Daniels was George W. Bush’s budget director…enough said. He also is simply reiterating the same failed trickle-down economic policies that helped cause our debt, while simultaneously tanking our economy. So not only did Daniels help produce our massive debt and sink our economy firsthand as Bush’s budget director, but he wants to double down on those same policies. I don’t like being lied to, and neither should you. This is why I hate the Republican party, and why anyone who votes for these guys is a fool.
By the way, I’ve talked a lot about how Bush policies are a huge portion of the debt problem. Again, this isn’t to say that the debt isn’t an issue, but there is absolutely no reason we should put Republicans back in control. As I said in the last blog: Republicans like to bitch about the debt, but they caused it, and when it comes down to actually doing anything about it, they haven’t proposed anything, and they currently hold the House of Representatives, where all tax bills must originate.
Here’s the proof, and part of Daniels’ legacy on debt. Also a great thing to send to your conservative buddies, showing that Bush policies cost far more than Obama’s:
